My name is Dominique (Nikki) Brooks. I have Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) which is an inherited disorder but I was fortunate enough to undergo a kidney transplant from a living donor in December 2017.
I want to help other people who are looking for donors or waiting for a transplant. Therefore, I am going to change the focus of this blog to highlight stories about organ donation — donors, recipients, and people who are looking. Hopefully this will help highlight the importance of donation — and the more eyes on these stories, the better.
I will also continue to post about kidney health and general facts about donation for people who might have questions. We will also keep information about What to Expect When Donating on the site as well; however, if you are considering donating, we can probably connect you with someone who has donated and may be better equipped to answer them.
